The El Dorado Jaycees will host the Carson & Barnes Family Circus at the Union County Fairgrounds, East 19th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at 2 and 5 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Tickets can be purchased at all First Financial Bank locations, State Farm Insurance, Southern Bancorp and Art Attack Graphic Design. Tickets are $6 for children and $12 for adults. Ticket prices will go up the day of the event so local residents are urged to purchase tickets early.

Proceeds from the event will help go to the Jaycees Annual Stuff-a-Stocking. At 9 a.m. on Oct. 22, local residents are invited to watch the Circus Big Top as workers assemble the tent. There will also be a petting zoo and a guide to educate children about the animals.

Jaycees and Relay for Life

The El Dorado Junior Chamber contributed their funds and energy to take part in the Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life, held April 29th and 30th, at the John E. Gross Recreation Center in Parkers Chapel. This event in particular was a special one as Union County was chosen to take part in a Cancer Prevention Study in hopes of providing feedback on how this serious disease may be prevented/cured for future generations. Our Jaycees team, captained by Sarah Sayers, put in many hard-earned hours preparing our team’s tent to offer food and t-shirts to be sold to raise funds for the benefit of this cause. A special “thank you” from the El Dorado Junior Chamber goes out to all of those who put in their time, effort, and support for the benefit of mankind.

Easter Egg Hunt A Sucess

The El Dorado Junior Chamber hosted the 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the South Arkansas Arboretum, located next to El Dorado High School, on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 10 a.m. The hunt was free and open to all kids between the ages of 0 – 12. Over 5,000 eggs were stuffed with candy and toys, as children were divided into different age groups to make it a safe experience for everyone: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12. Each section had one golden egg that contained a grand-prize: a new bicycle! This was a fun-filled, family event that brought in over 150 children to celebrate one of the many joys of the Easter holiday!

El Dorado Junior Chamber Network on Tuesday, March 29th

The El Dorado Jaycees will host Your Junior Chamber Network, a young workforce networking event, on the evening of Tuesday March 29th at the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, beginning at 5:15 p.m. This is an opportunity for young professionals, civic organizers, skilled workers, or anyone interested in building relationships in the El Dorado network. Bringing our young workforce together and getting them involved is a very important part of keeping them here long term.

As the up-and-coming generation of community leaders, we need to engage one another, we need to know one another, and we need to be prepared to work together for our collective good. These are exciting times for El Dorado and Union County, and it’s getting to be a time for us to do our part to secure our future and the future of our children. The first step is to have a good network. This is a great opportunity for any business or individual that is looking to become involved and/or volunteer their efforts in growing that community bond. Union County businesses and organizations are welcome to contribute their efforts to this event by sending employees, providing door prizes, and/or providing donations to support our networking cause.
