John Baine, a member of the El Dorado Jaycees, was inducted as JCI Senator No. 69683 on Aug. 14 at The Arkansas Junior Chamber Annual Meeting in El Dorado.
He was installed by The United States Junior Chamber National President-elect Joanie Cramer of Huntersville, N.C. The JCI Senate is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon any member of a local chapter by JCI, Junior Chamber International. The award was first created in 1952 and is only presented to those that have shown the highest commitment to the principles and beliefs of the organization. Baine is the 10th member of the El Dorado Jaycees to receive this award.
He served as president of the El Dorado Jaycees in 2006 when he led the Chapter to No. 1 in Arkansas and No. 3 in the United States in the National Parade of Chapters. His work earned him the Charles Kulp Jr. Memorial Award for Outstanding Local Presidents from The United States Junior Chamber and the Local Chapter President of the Year Award from The Arkansas Junior Chamber.
He served as business development vice-president of The Arkansas Junior Chamber in 2007, where he was recognized with the Dennis Hamilton Memorial Award for Outstanding Programming by The United States Junior Chamber.
Baine served as the 71 st president of The Arkansas Junior Chamber in 2008 and chairman of the board in 2009. He was most recently elected as a National Vice-President of The United States Junior Chamber for 2011. He is a JCI Certified Local Trainer and is the 2010 Chair of The United States Junior Chamber Training Task Force, created to develop training materials for state and local chapters.
He is an accountant with Murphy Oil Corporation and is serving his fifth term as a Justice of the Peace on the Union County Quorum Court. He also serves on the board of the Arkansas State University Alumni Association, and was appointed by Gov. Mike Beebe to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Advisory Committee.
Attached is the agenda for the year end board meeting which will be held March 5th-7th in Fort Smith. There will be an “abbreviated” Pub Crawl on Friday night beginning at approximately 7 pm, which will depart from some pre-determined point in the hotel lobby.

Craig Griffin, a member of the El Dorado Jaycees, was inducted as JCI Senator #69138 on Tuesday, October 13that the annual Alumni Reception by State President Chad Peterson of Conway. The JCI Senate is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon any member of a local chapter by JCI, Junior Chamber International. The award was first created in 1952 and is only presented to those that have shown the highest commitment to the principles and beliefs of the organization. Craig Griffin is only the ninth member of the El Dorado chapter to receive this award. He has served the Jaycees as President of both the El Dorado Jaycees (2004) and the Arkansas Junior Chamber (part 2005).
His other activities have included: El Dorado Rotary Club, District Rotary, Leadership El Dorado, Main Street El Dorado, Musicfest El Dorado, El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, El Dorado Downtown Improvement Task Force, El Dorado Marketing Implantation Task Force, United Way of Union County, El Dorado A&P Commission, Upward Bound Basketball, Cub Scouts – DeSoto Area Council, Union County Democratic Central Committee, Automotive Service Association, Society of Collision Repair Specialists, and the Arkansas Collision Repair Association. He is married to Cathey McAllister Griffin and has two sons.

The El Dorado Jaycees received recognition for their commitment to their community on Saturday at the Arkansas Junior Chamber Year-End Celebration held in Magnolia. The awards were presented by outgoing Arkansas Junior Chamber President and El Dorado Jaycee John Baine.
“The El Dorado Jaycees showed their leadership in the area of business development in 2008. We expect even great results in 2009,” Baine said. The El Dorado Jaycees received high praise for the El Dorado Jaycees Golf Tournament that began 2008 and is a major funding source for the El Dorado Jaycees scholarship. The scholarship at South Arkansas Community College and is in the process of being endowed over the next few years. The Second Annual El Dorado Jaycees Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 18th at Lion’s Club Golf Course.
The success in business development along with the continued efforts of the chapter to be involved in community development projects led to the El Dorado Jaycees rating as the #3 local chapter in the state of Arkansas for 2008. This ranking is part of a Parade of Chapters used by the Arkansas Junior Chamber to determine the effectiveness of each local chapter in meeting the needs of the individual member, the community, and to promote relationships with other Jaycees from other local chapters.
In addition to the chapter-wide award two El Dorado Jaycees were singled out for recognition. El Dorado Jaycees Joe McFadden was recognized as a top local officer for his work to expand the membership of the chapter and David Wood was recognized for his leadership over the business areas of the chapter that led to their strong showing.
The El Dorado Jaycees is a nonprofit, politically nonpartisan, organization with the goal of fostering and promoting efforts to organize and develop local Jaycees throughout Union County to afford opportunity to acquire and develop leadership ability for participation in the affairs of their community, state, and nation. They meet every second Tuesday at Bayou Bistro at 6 PM with a reception at 5:30 PM.
